Ikusmira Berriak 10 years

The Ikusmira Berriak 10 years cycle, part of Zinemaldia + PLUS, is organised in collaboration by the San Sebastian Festival and Tabakalera, coinciding with the tenth anniversary of the International Centre for Contemporary Culture.

The new seasons proposes to explore and celebrate, with a retrospective look, the ten years of the Ikusmira Berriak film residency, co-organised by the two institutions together with Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, through 21 films developed within the framework of the programme and which have already been completed and premiered at various international festivals such as the San Sebastian Festival, Cannes, Venice, Berlinale, Sundance, Locarno, Viennale, Márgenes, Torino and Mar del Plata, among others.

This retrospective cycle, which will run from January to December 2025, covers different film-geographies: from Chile, Bolivia and Argentina, to Austria, the United States and Russia, as well as Spain, Belgium, Portugal, Brazil and Japan. And it does so in a context in which no limits matter: neither in length, nor in format or genres, integrating very diverse films that often take formal risks and innovative proposals of cinematographic language, which also show certain generational concerns.

In the middle of the cycle, and taking advantage of one of the sessions that make up this retrospective, the tenth anniversary publication of Ikusmira Berriak, which will contain unpublished texts, will be presented in the auditorium.
