Bakearen milia = La milla de la paz = Mile of peace = Le mille de la paix
A mile or 1609 metre long exhibition tour, designed to create an open space for reflection and participation on peace and its reversal: war, violence and armed conflicts. The route is based on the idea of the river as a metaphor, a natural border, and the bridges built as objects to overcome this geographical division. The tour is located between the Maria Cristina and Mundaiz bridges and divided into four areas: 1. Agora square: is conceived as a multi-purpose space to host activities. An open-place for hosting. 2. Kaleidoscope of violence: presents current conflicts and abuses of human rights. 3. One can learn to live in peace: located in the Araba park (Amara), will be a space for action and creation aimed at children and families. 4. Peace in progress: under the principle that peace is possible, invites visitors to get involved for peace. Besides the walk through the exhibition, Mile of peace has organised a broad range of activities for every kind of audience, including theatre, cinema, performances, guided tours and meetings that invite to reflection, providing several different outlooks on the issues addressed by the exposition.
