VR zineman : ikus-entzunezko formatu berriak miatzen = VR en el cine : explorando nuevos formatos audiovisuales = VR in filmmaking : exploring novel audiovisual formats
New technologies offer new possibilities for the generation of innovative audiovisual formats, allowing us to offer a more immersive experience to the viewer or new advanced interactivity mechanisms. Martin Allais, director, designer, visual and multidisciplinary artist who lives between New York and Barcelona, will share his experience in the creation of Battlescar, a short film offered as a Virtual Reality (VR) experience in which a young woman from Puerto Rico is arrested upon arriving in New York in 1978. In the center where she is held, she meets a young American and they both found a punk group. Battlescar, with a duration of 28 minutes and divided into three acts, is available on the Oculus online store (Facebook).
Martin Allais will share his experience in the conception and creation of Battlescar in a conversation with Mikel Zorrilla, director of Digital Media at the Vicomtech applied research technology center. Mikel Zorrilla is currently the coordinator of the European Traction project, in which new audiovisual formats for the Creative and Cultural Industry are being investigated, focused on the co-creation and representation of operas, including immersive, interactive and Virtual Reality formats.
Both will exchange opinions in a talk that will analyze the gestation of Battlescar as a starting point, and that will end up exploring the technological possibilities for the creation of future audiovisual formats that are applicable to cinema.
