Txori habia : Pekingo Olimpiar Estadioaren eraikuntzari buruzko filma Tabakaleran = Nido de pájaro : una película sobre la contrucción del estadio Olímpico de Pekín en Tabakalera = Bird's nest : a film on the construction of the Olympic Stadium in Beijing at Tabakalera
Tabakalera and Donostia Kultura have organized a special projection of the documentary Bird's Nest: Herzog and de Meuron in China for 10th September, Wednesday. The documentary focuses on the building process of the Olympic Stadium in Beijing by the Swiss architects Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron. The projection will take place in the cinema room of Tabakalera. Afterwards, one of the directors of the film, Christoph Schaub, will take part in a discussion.
The documentary by Christoph Schaub and Michael Schindhelm follows the steps of the Swiss architects Herzog and de Meuron (Tate Modern in London, Allianz Arena football stadium in Munich, De Young Museum in San Francisco, etc) in two very different projects in China: the National Stadium for 2008 Beijing Olympics and the reconstruction of a quarter in the provincial city of Jinhua.
The documentary shows how Chinese culture has influenced the works carried out by Herzog and de Meuron to build the prestigious and complex "Bird's Nest". The architectonic specific form and the fight to achieve it give us information about the Chinese society, its intentions, its expectation, its culture and its daily life.
Herzog and de Meuron have literally built bridges between two cultures, two architectonic traditions and two different political systems.
