Globo estratosferikoaren jaurtiketa = Lanzamiento de globo estratosférico = Stratospheric balloon workshop
High-altitude balloons (HAB) are instruments that have been used for decades by scientists around the world to analyse the atmosphere, take aerial photographs and study the weather. Recently, the availability of low-cost hardware and the wide variety of open citizen science projects have made these techniques available to any person or group with the necessary curiosity and desire to explore.
In this workshop we will review the techniques and materials necessary to carry out a mission of this type, from the radio positioning and monitoring systems, legislation and physical and logistic characteristics of a launch, to the prediction of flight trajectories and parameters.
The workshop will conclude with the possible launch (if the weather permits) of the EKI-1 mission, a balloon made by the open astronomy group at Hirikilabs in collaboration with the Aranzadi Science Society, on the morning of Saturday 7 September.
