Mediazioa, lan komunitarioa eta hezkuntza herrikoia Ekuadorren = Mediación cultural y educación popular en Ecuador = Cultural mediation and popular education in Ecuador
This working session will show various practices of museums and art centers depending on Fundación Museos Quito from Ecuador. Using concrete examples we will try to open a dialogue about the possibilities and frictions of community work and popular education as two axes on which joint mediation work in museums.
The Quito Museums Foundation is a public service that manages museums, cultural centers and projects from a territorial and educational perspective with emphasis on their spatial mediation programs and territories. The Community Mediation Area works with various museums and territories developing research, long-term processes and projects based on alternative pedagogies and mediation work. This work aims to generate models and urban cultural policies that promote sustainable ways of working between heritage, museums, educational and cultural practices, and various local contexts.
The presentation will be given by Alejandro Cevallos (Coordinator of Community Mediation of Quito Museums Foundation) and Valeria Galarza (Educator Area Mediation)
