Two geo-routes were organised: Victor Hugo’s geo-route and the Paramoudra geo-route. Victor Hugo’s geo-route: The French writer visited Pasaia and Ulia, and the coast of Jaizkibel in 1843. Amazed by the beauty of the surroundings, he provided one of the most important and beautiful pages of his book Alpes et Pyrénées with words he wrote there. The layers of sandstone that fall to the sea almost vertically, the channels that used to supply the city and the Pasaia Port with water, and marvellous historical traces, among others, complete an unforgettable tour. The tour started at the front door of the Mariaren Bihotza church in San Sebastian and, after 7 kilometres, it ended in Pasai San Pedro. The Paramoudra geo-route: The sandstones from the Eocene show all kinds of shapes and colours. ‘Paramoudras’ stand out among them. These are stone spheres formed millions of years ago, due to the combination of geological and biological processes. The special ecosystem that contains very important plants, with an amazing history and the blue sea, turns any route in the area into much more than a mountain trip. The meeting point was the Basilica of Guadalupe, and the tour ended at the Justiz picnic area (next to the golf course). Travellers walked 8.5km in total.
