Xiao Wu (Pickpocket), Jia Zhangke, China / Hong Kong, 1997, OV with spanish subtitles, 105’
In a time, when I pirated DVDs to discover new films, I discovered Xiao Wu and for the first time with a film I felt totally identified, with its streets, its people and its faces. I found in this film a melancholic sincerity about the friends that are already gone, about the past loves. It always inspires me to film whatever surrounds me and to praise our “moments” of life.
