Labo is the freshest section of the Clermont-Ferrand Festival which has one clear objective: to showcase the most risky and innovative proposals of the moment. Films with non-conventional narratives, hybrid works, films with a specific graphic style, an unstructured cut or a peculiar soundtrack, or those that play around with the very nature of film material itself.

A Smile in the Back of My Head

The film follows a church janitor on his days at work. He slugs from day to day in the trenches of banality. His isolation fuels his internal monologue into a tirade of hate and confusion, aimed directly at the viewer. His fickle state of mind runs like a steam train screaming.
The exquisite corpus

The Exquisite Corpus is based on various erotic films and advertising rushes. Tscherkassky plays on the "cadavre exquis" technique used by the Surrealists, drawing disparate body parts constellating magical creatures. Myriad fragments are melted into a single sensuous, humorous, gruesome, and ecstatic dream.
