Augurium. Launch

Augurium. Launch

Launch is a sound and sculpture intervention for a specific content - the opening Tabakalera. Rosa and Mike aim to occupy transit areas of the building with devices that are motion activated (by people, animals or things) and which emit the soundtrack of the launch countdowns of the rockets used for the first human expeditions into space. Launch encourages us to approach and imagine the Tabakalera opening as the start of an expedition of the universe that, just like the first steps that humans took towards space on 4 October 1957, could take us to discover new worlds, chances for existence, materials, relations, magnitudes… and to see artists and cultural stakeholders as explorers of the unknown, of what is out there. In turn, this intervention considers this moment of opening, of launch, as a paradoxical point of culmination and beginning. Culmination of all the collective work carried out to be able to get the system and machinery up and working; and the beginning of the journey that can take us to where we have never been, to discover to what we still not have even imagined.
